Mrs. Cate's Class: Thank you so much for the three books. We can't wait to start to reading all of them. They all look so interesting we can't decide which one to read first!
There were 1001 Things to Spot in the Sea. I drew a gray octopus on a rock, a blue shark and a fish hiding behind a plant. Ms. Avila couldn't see the fish and said I did a good job camouflaging. Cesar V
A girl wanted to paint her face at the fair, but she didn't have enough money. A woman told her she could get money from The Penny Pot. Miguel was nice and left extra pennies. Now she could put a star on her face. By Luis R and Max T in Mrs. Avila's Class
El libro de las palomitas de maiz is about some twin brothers that wanted to make popcorn. She said the popcorn was in the refrigerator. He found out that popcorn stays fresh in a jar. The humidity doesn't get in. He found lots of ways to make popcorn. Popcorn pops because there is water inside the hard shelled seed. When the seed gets hot, the humidity evaporates and the inside blows up until the shell rips open making a popping sound. The Native Americans have a legend that says that inside each grain of corn is a little devil. When their house gets hot, it gets so mad it explodes. The twins found a lot of information about popcorn in a book. It also said you shouldn't put salt on popcorn before it's popped because the popcorn gets too hard. By Karol B. and Jennifer V. in Mrs. Avila's 2nd Grade Class

Alex C. Mrs.Duran's Class. I read Soy el Agua, Espia de la Naturaleza, and Un Amigo Maravilloso. My favorite one was Soy El Agua because it talks about fun things we can do with water, and that we have to take care of it to keep doing those fun things.
